Task 2 (Premier’s IELTS Writing Test 1 )
Câu hỏi : Some people think that the government should provide unemployed people with a free mobile and free access to the internet to help them find jobs.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion? Give reasons for your answers and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge and experience.
Mở Bài
We cannot discount the possibility of some policies from governments to support unemployed people to find jobs. Some people think that one of those should be providing them with mobile phones and access to the Internet for free; however, I do not subscribe to this opinion.
Thân Bài 1
On the one hand, if launched, this policy might exert some negative effects on governments. There is a considerable financial burden governments’ budget may bear including both national and local funds. The amount of money spent on mobile phones and Internet access is immeasurable, especially the unemployment rate has tended to increase in recent years in many countries. Instead, governments ought to devote their great resources to investing in public services for out-of-work people. Workshops, orientation sessions in terms of career, and employment service centers play a prominent part to help unemployed people furnish themselves with necessary skills for jobs as well as getting job opportunities.
Thân Bài 2
On the other hand, justifiably, offering unemployed people with mobile phones and Internet access for free does not benefit them. First, this program may make them become passive and even, rely on the states’ aids in seeking jobs. Unless they have these privileges, they have to make their efforts and take advantage of everything in their capability to land a job. Second, there is no guarantee that those people would use this properly. In contrast, modern phones with Internet access might be used for illegal activities such as stealing users’ information for ransom or accessing pornographic content.
Finally, we have to admit that most out-of-work people need, not phones or the right to access the Internet for free, to realize the reason why they have difficulties in finding jobs. Evidence suggests most of them lack important skills, fluency in foreign languages, or qualifications required by recruiters. Therefore, it is worthwhile for governments to focus on it.
Kết Bài
In conclusion, it seems to me that governments had better not provide unemployed people with mobile phones and Internet access for free due to some drawbacks. (334 words)
