Task 1 (IELTS Simulation Writing Test 6)

Câu hỏi : The bar graph below shows the amount of carbon emissions in different countries during three different years. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The bar chart illustrates how much the amount of carbon emitted in thousand metric tonnes (TMT) in some countries between 1975 and 2005.
Overall, there were increases in the quantities of carbon emissions in most of the countries surveyed, except for Germany and the UK. Especially, the USA and China made up the majority of the amount of carbon emitted compared to the others. 
Specifically, in the USA, starting with just over 1,200,000 in 1975, the amounts of exhaust fumes went up to about 1,300,000 in 1990 before reaching a peak at 1,600,000 TMT in 15 years later. Meanwhile, the figure for China, despite commencing with just 300,000 in 1975 and rising slightly to approximately 650,000 in 1990, rocketed to just over 1,500,000 TMT in 2005.  

Meanwhile, Canada and India also underwent negligible improvements in the levels of carbon emissions with roughly 150,000 and 350,000 TMT in 1975, respectively. Previously, the figure for Canada stayed nearly unchangeable from 1975 to 1990 at about 100,000 TMT and the number for India was 50,000 in 1975 before growing to almost 200,000 TMT in fifteen years later. However, the amounts of carbon emissions in Germany insignificantly decreased from about 260,000 in 1975 and 1990 to just over 200,000 TMT in 2005. The figure for the UK was even lower, with just roughly 180,000 in 1975 before decreasing slightly to 170,000 in 1990 and then increasing to about 175,000 TMT in 2005. (238 words)

Câu hỏi : A number of tertiary courses require students to undertake a period of unpaid work at an institution or organization as part of their programme. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this type of course. Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own experience.

Many courses of tertiary education these days ask students to be in charge of work without payment at institutions or organizations as an obligatory part of their curriculum. There are some merits and drawbacks we need to weigh up in terms of this policy.  

Thân Bài 1
On the one hand, having a foray into this course might help students prepare well for their future work. This is akin to a period of internship for students before official graduation. Not only does it furnish themselves with practical skills and knowledge related to real jobs but it also makes sense in making students proficient in work they would land in the future. Also, doing this course works wonder for their orientation towards a career path because they could access the real working environment. They could follow an individual course in the future such as getting an ideal job or even having a start-up in light of the pros and cons they realize while working.  
Thân Bài 2
On the other hand, a financial burden and a heavy schedule are unavoidable once students undergo a period of working for free. Several unexpected expenses are not likely to be affordable for most of the students dependent upon their families. The longer the extra curriculum is, the more pressure in terms of finance students and their kindred endure, including costs of commute, accommodation, and food. Moreover, most colleges and universities design a wide and intensive curriculum for their learners; thereupon, students have to study and work against the clock to meet different deadlines in school as well as the workplace rather than spending more time on leisure or voluntary activities.

In conclusion, if we impose tertiary courses on students forcing them to undertake a period of unpaid work, they can embrace some tangible advantages and disadvantages. (296 words)
