Task 2 (Cambridge 9 Test 2 IELTS Writing)
Câu hỏi : Some people believe that unpaid community service should be a compulsory part of high school programmes (for example working for a charity, improving the neighbourhood or teaching sports to younger children). To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Mở Bài
When it comes to volunteer work, some people opine that it should be applied to the high schools’ curriculum compulsorily. While admitting some benefits of charity activities, I do not completely subscribe to this view.
Thân Bài 1
On the one hand, we do not deny clear advantages this activity brings once it becomes an extracurricular activity for high school students. Initially, this policy helps raise their awareness of responsibilities towards people in need in society. There is a range of voluntary tasks they can be at the helm like stepping in for the disabled to overcome difficulties of physical activities or teaching the abandoned children. Besides, providing such unpaid community services is a way to help furnish students with solid and soft skills. In this way, the volunteer work is a prominent part which helps them improve practical knowledge and prepare better for future life.
Thân Bài 2
On the other hand, the disagreement in imposing this activity on students’ studying programs in high schools can be understood easily. Indeed, there is an inverse relationship between the volunteer work and the sense of obligation when conducting it. As a result, they could feel reluctant and they are not likely to devote their great resources to doing it. Moreover, in light of the students’ autonomy, if this policy comes in reality, we will intrude on their spare time. Thereby spending time on these activities in lieu of outdoor ones as playing sports after school, they could have difficulties in relaxing and recharging their batteries.
Kết Bài
In conclusion, it seems to me that the drawbacks of applying unpaid community services as an obligatory part of the high school curriculum outweigh benefits. Therefore, this forces us to keep a wary eye on before conducting. (286 words).
