Cambridge 12 Test 5 (IELTS Writing) - Task 1 & Task 2

Câu hỏi : The bar chart below shows the percentage of Australian men and women in different age groups who did regular physical activity in 2010. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The bar chart exemplifies the proportion of Australian males and females who belonged to different levels of age and partook in regular physical activity in 2010.
Overall, the number of female participants was higher than that of males as of the age group of 25 to 34. Meanwhile, the quantity of 15-to-24-year-old Australian men who took part in this kind of activity held the highest number among all surveyed people in 2010.

With only 47.7% in the age group of 15 to 24, there was a gradual increase in the number of women doing physical activity when they got older. Specifically, the ratio of women aged 25 to 34 and 35 to 44 rose to 48.9 and 52.5, respectively before reaching a peak at 53.3 when they fell into 45 to 54 years old. However, the figure for 55-to-64-year-old females decreased slightly to 53% and reached a low at 47.1% in the group of the elderly (65 years old and over).

Simultaneously, the number of male participants showed an inverse proportioncommencing with the highest number of 15-to-24-year-old men, 52.8% before undergoing a fluctuation later. Particularly, this figure significantly declined when they were at 25 to 34, 35 to 44, to 42.2% and 39.5%, sequentially. However, the number for the later age groups encompassing 45 to 54, 55 to 64, 65 and over witnessed a slight rise with 43.1%, 45.1%, and 46.7%, respectively. (233 words)

Câu hỏi : Some people believe that it is good to share as much information as possible in scientific research, business and the academic world. Others believe that some information is too important or too valuable to be shared freely. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Mở Bài

There is a widely held view among some people that it is worthwhile sharing much information in terms of scientific research, business, and the academic world while others opine that it is deserved keeping some important facts from free access. Whilst admitting the advantages of sharing information in these fields, I tend towards the latter view.

Thân Bài 1

On the one hand, sharing information, in the eyes of many people, brings about undeniable benefits. By means of accessing information shared freely with respect to science, business, or academy, we can have discussions on it in an effort to make it better. Indeed, involved people may easily look for flaws concerning the shared information and get rid of them, which is essential when it comes to the importance of the shared information. Besides, the facts of the aforementioned fields definitely need objective assessments and
analyses that we can only have if we share them widely. As a result, we might supplement them with certain data to fulfill common requirements or standards.

Thân Bài 2

On the other hand, breaching the confidentiality of information in such sensitive subjects is liable to cause tangible consequences. Initially, the idea here is that there is much information in scientific research that is not considered to be official, so they need verifying to ensure the feasibility. Also, it is hard to support the view that business ideas should be shared freely by reason of unfair competitiveness. For example, ADIDAS and NIKE, the leading companies specializing in sports clothes and accessories, had best keep their own commercial confidentiality secure without revealed to rivals. Finally, the academic data usually exerts a far-reaching effect on different fields. Thus, we had better share it with suitable sections of people as a way for evil men not to have it served no useful purpose

Kết Bài

In conclusion, it seems to me that apart from admitting the benefits of sharing information in science, business, and academy, keeping some important facts strictly confidential needs to be paid more attention. (331 words)
