Task 1 (Barron’s IELTS Writing Test 3)
Câu hỏi : The charts below show degrees granted in different fields at the National University in the years 1990, 2000, and 2010. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
When it comes to Computer Science, starting at 30% in 1990, the quantities of grants increased steadily to 40% in 2000 and 45% in ten years later, respectively. Meanwhile, Medicine affirmed its position as the second important field when it was granted from 25% in 1990 to 30% in 2000 before reverting to 25% next decade.

Câu hỏi : All children should study a foreign language in school, starting in the earliest grades. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Mở Bài
When it comes to studying a foreign language, some people opine that children ought to learn a second language in school as soon as they attend the earliest grades. In my point of view, there are some conspicuous drawbacks once this policy is launched.
Thân Bài 1
On the one hand, it is undeniable that children at the lowest levels of the education system do not have enough capacity to absorb a foreign language. According to many studies suggest, youngsters have problems in relation to absorbing and memorizing knowledge hitherto reaching puberty. Thereby learning a foreign language might make them confront some adversities apart from doing their utmost to be fluent in their mother tongue. Also, should we design a curriculum with an additional language as an official subject, we simultaneously create a pro-forma pressure on children’s literacy skills. They have to bear in their mind and practice a bulk of knowledge and skills about grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary of the new language.

On the other hand, children need a balance between studying and life to ensure their mental and physical well-being. Leisure activities play a prominent part in helping a child become active and confident rather than sparing much of their time for studying. Therefore, learning a foreign language at a too early age could be detrimental to the offspring’s studying performance. Justifiably, many countries have supplemented a foreign language with the curriculum at primary schools; however, subjects like English, Spain, or Chinese are considered to be second-hand subjects in grade 3 or more. At lower grades, absorbing the mother tongue and emphasizing on extra-curricular activities are paid more attention.

For the aforementioned reasons, it seems to me that studying a foreign language intending for children in school had better not be conducted in the earliest grades through the agency of many advantages. (298 words)
